Album: Southern Weather
Artist: The Almost
Label: Tooth and Nail
Sounds like: My Chemical Romance, Anberlin

This side project from Underoath’s drummer Aaron Gillespie, on which he sings and plays most of the instruments, is not quite up to the screamo fury of Underoath, although, as you might expect, the drums feature prominently. Instead, he obviously has fun covering an emotinged soundscape that runs from the frantically pattering group sing-along “Say this sooner” to the pleasantly ramshackle acoustic confessional worship of “Dirty and left out” and “Amazing because it is,” where he sounds like Chris Carrabba before tacking on a choir. The heavy artillery guitars are typical Tooth and Nail fare and oh, did I mention the drums?
