Album: Overdressed
Artist: Caedmon’s Call
Label: INO Records
Sounds like: Jars of Clay

With multiple (and revolving) songwriters and singers, Caedmon’s Call has always felt like a supergroup, and with Derek Webb’s presence again on Overdressed, now even more so. The new album almost matches the consistently high standard set by 40 Acres—arguably their best. Here Webb and Sandra McCracken off er songs that are typically self-examining but Andrew Osenga proves to be the workhorse, writing the bulk of the material and managing an entertaining variety of styles, with the Youngs (Cliff and Danielle) singing the more accessible and celebratory, like “Need Your love,” and Osenga taking vocals on the songs that ape his pleasantly reflective work with the Normals.
