Album: Good to Go
Artist: Denver and the Mile High Orchestra
Label: Reel Loud
Sounds like: Michael Bublé meets OC Supertones

Where most ska bands have a three-piece horn section to add highlights, Denver Bierman’s crew of eight trumpeters, trombonists and saxophonists (nine including Denver) are the main game. They add quite a punch to the rockabilly numbers, and a sophisticated swagger to the big band swing-a-thons on “Good to go,” to which Denver’s Michael Bublé/Harry Connick voice is best suited. He also knows how to write the odd big jazz crooner. So why then is he bothering with the couple of lame praise and worship songs here? That’s not what we listeners are here for, and frankly they’d be better blasted out the door by those horns.
