Album: Give Yourself Away
Artist: Robbie Seay Band
Label: Sparrow/EMI
Sounds like: Delirious, Phil Wickham

Robbie Seay has stepped it up, as they say, for this second album. While the first one toyed with a more acoustic sound, this one aims for the stratospheric sounds of U2, Coldplay, Delirious, etc but in the moulded-forworship style, except that the lyrics aren’t quite so cut-andpaste and the songs are finely crafted, whether they be driving and bubbling, with luminescent guitar lines, or the big, Mat Kearney-style piano ballad “New day,” which is full of hope but not cheese. The inspiration flags a little at the halfway point— they butcher a classic from The Choir—but ultimately, this is compelling worship music that aspires to more.
