Album: Alive forever
Artist: Travis Cottrell
Label: Hosanna!/Integrity
Sounds like: Live countryish P & W

The start of the CD—bluesy old guitar and piano and a vaguely Steve Earle “Copperhead road” feel—suggests praise and worship with a Southern states flavour, and indeed there are the squealing string-bending Claptonesque blues rock guitar playing, funky horns and cooing Southern choir. However, a word of warning: this is still very American praise and worship, with the emotion cranked up to 11. There are a couple of traditional hymns here (like “Praise to the Lord the Almighty”), interestingly, but their inclusion can be a double-edged sword, adding depth, but also showing up the more modern and often rather syrupy praise fare.
