Writers, artists and even theologians over many centuries have looked at reasons and explained the necessity for God to be present—or at least for us to be aware of Him— in our lives. This is a hot topic for many of us as we search to find meaning—or at least understand why we need God.

It explores seven of Brown’s main explanations as to why life really is better with God and provides stimulating responses to the question, “Why do we need God?” In particular, this book thoughtfully explores the nature of God and why that impacts on our need for Him. The reason presented first is “because God is and not because of who you are. Whatever we may think of Him makes little difference to the reality of His existence and His nature.” God simply is.

The book also looks at the fact that no matter what our life situation or mood, we still need God. To share the joy or to halve the sorrow, God is there.

Brown’s book is an accessible style of apologetics, presenting these reasons in an easy-to-read format. Each chapter is short and concise but provides ideas for an in-depth discussion. This makes for great reading when you are busy or unable to digest difficult writing and long chapters.

This book would have greater appeal for established Christians, although it is an interesting read for anyone wishing to explore why we need God. All the reasons and possible explanations help us better understand the loving nature of God.
