5Q4 > The Man With All The Silly Answers

From mosquitos to diced carrots, Scott Wegener has all the silly answers anyone could ever want. But is there more to life than silly answers?

1 What led you to silly answers? > For some reason the Edge editors approached me to do Silly Answers. I couldn’t believe my luck. I have been all for silly answers throughout my life. Everything has a correct answer. Admittedly God may be the only one who knows some of them. Normal is not always good. Normal may not make you smile or laugh. Normal may not get you to think more about the real answer—which you thought you already knew. There is a place for silliness.

2 Do you have a favourite silly answer? > The answer I came up with for why God created mosquitoes is a personal favourite. It’s actually interesting to hear how different Silly Answers connect with some and befuddle others, and then the reverse for another answer. Whether you like an answer or not, you’ll have to admit they’re all silly.

3 Have you ever felt the need for serious answers? > All the time. Life is a serious task. There are many decisions and choices that require serious thought in life. Because of this I think we all need a few silly answers thrown in to lighten up our lives, so we don’t fall into the trap of thinking all things have to be so serious.

4 What other work do you do, apart from silly answers? > My boss asked me the same thing just the other day . . . I look for the cool stuff churches and their members are doing and put it in the Record to inspire others to do the same. It’s the grey-bottomed 1/3 of pages 3-6. I sometimes put silly stuff in there too, showing what silliness some Christians get up to. I also weave this Edge web site and Signs www.signsofthetimes.org.au webs, among other sites. We are reaching a lot of people with these sites now. It’s great!

5 Finally, the most important question—what does purple sound like?> Chicken.
