5Q4 > An Edge mascot

Cecil—a clear, plastic creature who loves adventure—is the Edge web-site’s mascot.
We recently caught up with him between adventures to ask him some questions . . .

1 So Cecil, how did you become a mascot for the edge magazine online? > Well, I felt it was something I was really made for! I talked to the editors about it and they were happy to have me on board and even suggested that I become the web-site mascot. Being from the local Warburton area, and my family having a long history of involvement with the Signs Publishing Company, it’s great to be a part of it myself.

2 What adventures have you had so far? > So far I’ve been to Auckland, Vanuatu, Cambodia, the UK, Hollywood, the GC session, skiing and tobogganning in Warburton and more. I plan on going rafting, mountain biking, hang-gliding, visiting the Pathfinder Camporee in 2007, a STORM Co trip and hopefully visit "Big Camps" in every conference. I love adventure and meeting people, obviously!

3 Who’s the Most exciting person you’ve met? > I did see Tom Cruise when I was in Los Angeles. But Pastor Jan Paulsen, our General Conference president, was the person I was most honoured to meet. I wasn't sure if he would let me take a photo of us together, but he did

4 You go on lots of adventure trips. Is there nothing you are fearful of? > Bellybutton lint’s one thing and I’m a bit nervous around anything hot, like ovens or toasters. And crabs now, too, since Vanuatu!

5 So what's the big deal with the Edge web site? > Not only is there the content of the magazines archived to read, and also in PDF format to download, there's web-exclusive news and articles. There's polls to vote on, photo caption competitions, a Pacific-wide treasure hunt for a specific street sign and surveys to tell us what we're doing right (or wrong). You can make prayer requests, use our big categorised links pages to surf the ‘net and heaps more (there's even hidden links on the site to funny stuff or online games). You’ll just have to visit to know what I'm talking about. (oh, look. . . you are here *tee hee*) And don’t forget to look at my adventures! CLICK HERE!
